_{State Core Group Member, Don Carrick, has been elected President of the Direct Support Division for the American Association on Mental Retardation (AAMR). For more information on the division, click here.}

_{Governor Holden and the Missouri Legistature passed a one dollar an hour raise for community direct support, beginning July 2001. The Missouri Department of Mental Health is in the process of figuring out how much goes to each agency. The raise will be retroactive, which means that, when DMH sends the money to an agency, they will add the raise from the last few months to direct supports next paycheck.}

_{This is not a pure dollar. DMH is recommending to all agencies that they take out 15% of that dollar for FICA, unemployment insurance, etc. If you work community direct support and feel that more than 15% is being taken out, or you are not recieving the dollar at all, please contact us here.}

_{The Code of Ethics for direct support workers is completed. This code represents several years of work for members of the National Alliance of Direct Support Professionals and will be desemminated nationally. Take a look at it here. You can also order cards, pamphlets and posters of the code through the web site.}

_{DSPM is making the Code of Ethics a top priority in 2001-2002. We see this as a steping stone to creditation for direct support and making it a true profession. We will do what we can to get the Department of Mental Health to recognize and impliment the Code of Ethics state-wide.}
